Every January I like to do a re-introduction of our firm and our practice areas because I think it is a great time of year to remind people of how we can serve them.  We have a team of five attorneys and four paralegals that are very experienced in each of our practice areas.  We serve individual and business clients in the tri-state area in both litigation and transactional work and have attorneys licensed in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut in Pennsylvania.

Our three main practice areas are commercial and construction litigation, corporate/business law, and residential and commercial real estate.

Commercial and Construction Litigation:

We work with a diverse group of companies and individuals in business disputes in state and federal court litigation, through trial and appeal, as well as in mediation and arbitration.  Some of the commercial matters that we handle are partner and member disputes; contract disputes, claims of unfair competition and tortious interference, business fraud, as well as numerous other types of business disputes.  We have several years of experience in identifying, seeking and obtaining the necessary and proper legal and equitable relief and remedies required by our clients, including, but not limited to, temporary restraining orders, preliminary and permanent injunctions, declaratory judgments, specific performance and monetary damages.

In addition, we have a significant amount of experience litigating a variety of construction disputes, including the following: 1) Performance/Payment disputes; 2) Termination and Abandonment issues; 3) Bond Claims; and 4) Construction Liens.  Our attorneys have experience representing homeowners, material suppliers, small-business owners specializing in specific trades, as well as large general contracting firms. Each of these clients has different needs and requires unique considerations. Our knowledgeable attorneys can advise every type of client regarding all kinds of issues pertaining to construction projects in both New York and New Jersey.

With respect to construction law, we can also assist you with drafting your construction or home renovation agreement. We can conduct research and advise you whether the company you are about to hire is licensed or if it has had complaints lodged against it in the past. We can collect your outstanding receivables, preserve your claims for additional compensation, or advise you on the proper steps needed to file a bond claim or construction lien on both public and private projects.

Corporate/Business Law:

We represent small to medium size businesses on a variety of issues, including the following:

  • Business formation and dissolution
  • Partnership Agreements
  • Shareholder Agreements
  • Non-Disclosure Agreements, Confidentiality Agreements, Non-Competition and Non-Solicitation Agreements
  • Contractual negotiations
  • Asset Purchase Agreements
  • Contractual disputes
  • Employment contracts and related agreements
  • Commercial/Business Litigation
  • Interpreting and advising parties on their rights and obligations as business owners under contractual agreements, shareholder or LLC agreements
  • Partnership disputes
  • Shareholder disputes
  • Breach of contract, business fraud and other torts
  • Disputes involving non-disclosure agreements, non-compete and non-solicitation agreements

For our corporate clients who we represent in a general counsel capacity, we make ourselves available to assist with any issue that they might have.  When we work with a business in this capacity, we spend time getting to know the team, the business and its operations, which benefits the client, and our firm, in the long run, as we are able to handle a wide variety of issues.

In addition, our firm’s extensive litigation experience allows us to guide and/or represent our corporate clients when a dispute arises.  We value the relationships that we develop with our clients and work closely with them to develop the best strategy for their specific needs, whether the need is transactional or dispute-related.

Residential and Commercial Real Estate:

We represent clients with respect to the following real estate transactions:

  • Drafting and review of commercial and residential lease agreements
  • Commercial and residential real estate sale and purchases
  • Commercial landlord-tenant disputes

In addition to our own experience, we have a team of professionals that we work with on many transactions, including real estate brokers, title companies and closers, loan officers and lenders.  When we have a transaction where we are working with a team that we work well with, the transaction proceeds smoothly (most of the time).    The team of professionals that work together to bring a client to the closing table is so important as each plays a critical role.  We are thankful to have not only our internal team of myself, Abby and Angela, but our external connections, as well.

If you are an individual or business that is looking for representation in any of these areas, please take a look at our website and social media platforms and feel free to contact us for a consultation.  We would love to explore how we can work with you!
